What is the Big Toe?
The Big Toe is a community site inspired by the documentary film U People. It is a documentary about a group of women of color across sexualities who get together one weekend to make an atypical music video. This music video "Make A move" was featured on LOGO and presented a genuine light on the life, legacy and subtleties of gay women of color. U People wa smade from extra footage taken during the downtime of that video shoot. In the film o-director Olive Demetrius was quoted, in reference to being gay..."I'm not proud, that's like being proud of my Big Toe". Learn more about the movie at www.iloveupeople.com

Who is on the Big Toe?
Anyone who is or can relate to the term "U People" or the movie. the film does a beautiful job at shining light on the humanity behind the labels we give ourselves and others. We like to think that those new and old to the Big Toe continue to echo that sentiment.

What can I do here?
First things first, set up your profile page. This site works much like myspace where you can set up a profile, browse other profiles and collect friends. There is also a forum where you can get a hot topic going. You can upload and share photos, music and videos. We encourage people to record and upload U People Stories which is a personal account of an experience when someone has treated you like... well one of those people. You can learn more here.

Blogging vs. Forums
Here on the Big Toe we encourage and support those who want to seriously blog to do so. We also want to provide a space where people can just post a random thought or pose a random question to teh Big Toe. So before you submit a blog or forum topic PLEASE PLEASE read this first.

Big Toe Conduct
if you don't step on no one else's toe they won't step on yours. Simply put, this isa place of peace, laughter and for some healing. As our numbers grow so does the community as a whole. Not everyone lives the same existence or have the same interest. So the best way to enjoy and respect others is to put yourself out there and find others of like mind and then continue to build. The creators of The Big Toe do not censor your language or ideas, but if as a community we feel your posts, profile or input is profane, offensive or disrespectful then the community will suggest that you change your approach. If there is no attempts at change then your profile will be respectfully banned. Otherwise please by all means find and have fun.
