What does your Promise Land look like?

On the last Live with U People episode we asked you what does your Promise Land look like? When Martin Luther King spoke of the "Promise Land" in his last speech before his assignation in Memphis, we thought that in this day and age what would his vision look like. So what does a Promise Land look and feel like when it comes to how we engage with one another?

THAT all african american and african american LGBT of color have equal rights with the rest of the Real Americans(European decent) and are first class citizens with support for schools, neighborhood, business, homes and resources like the rest of REAL Americans and there are no illegal alliens spandiard conquestos European decents brought her to mess that up by letting them have everything that blacks should get first, just cause they are European decent that is discrimatory. So instead of the illegal spandiard conquestos who killed and enslaved the REAL NATIVE AMERICANS taking black neighborhoods over making blacks move to a different area cause they are discriminatory to blacks, the African American and African American LGBT get treated as first class citizen in their own country.

I"m sorry who are these european conquestos? You seem to be real passionate about their presence in your community. But I'm not sure exactly who they are and how they have effected your community? Where is your community? Please expound.

But also even though passion is real I want to remember what the question asks and the spirit in which Martin spoke. DO you think, regardless of politics that an exclusionary tone has a place in this idea of a promise land? Its interesting to see what different folks consider a promise land. Sometimes it still comes with the exclusion of somebody for some reason.I"m not pointing fingers at you sister, but I honestly want to explore this.

Im talkn bout Oakand, Ca and Richmond Ca community. Ya it comes to the exclusion of the REAL Native Americans First Nation ppl and First Nations LGBT of color that got killed off from the Europeans that like to take over other ppls countries and land. Im not passionate of having illegal alien european spandiard conquestos who came from spain in the 1600s and went to central America and killed off 90 percent of Aztec and Myan Indians, Real Native Americans, then they enslaved the last 10 percent and made them speak their European Spanish language and take on their European Spandiard religion and culture. That is why some of the European spandiards who mixed and raped the Real Native Americans have darker skin., so they called them a European Spaniard Spanish name "Mexican"and have all the European spandiard culture and language still. The European Spandiard Conquestos which meant to Conquest other ppls lands and countries, like Europeans like to do came also came to South America for the gold in the 1600s and killed off the original South American Native Indians and took their whole Continent over. That is why South America and Central America has European Non Native spandiard names and languages in these countries they took over. I guess Spain wasnt big enough! The English won over the spandiards from killing off the REAL Native Americans in North America, that is why we speak English in North America today, instead of Real Native American Languages or if the Spandiard conquestos from spain took North America over, we would be speaking their European language spanish. That is what I am talkn about.

The Spandiard Conquestos which means to conquest ppls land and countries from spain, also came to other countries like the Philipines and put their influence in that country like their European Catholic Church and some of the islands like Cuba or Diminocin Republic that has that European spandiard language from spain that they are speaking. Since the European Spandiards from spain had black slaves like the other Europeans did, (English, and French other Europeans) they mixed with them also that is why Brazil and some islands have African heritage decendents there. 5th grade history or history international channel. Most of the original real South American Native Indians were killed off and their ghosts can be seen sometimes, still doing their Real Native Indian dancing around the fire. Original Indians got killed off but their spirit and cultures couldnt be killed off even if they come back as a ghost.
So Oakland and Richmond was mostly 90 percent African American when you use to hang out there back in the day and then after Jerry Brown became the mayor he closed down black hiphop clubs and paid police to close all the black businesses down especially hiphop clubs, because Jerry Brown thought the way to make money in Oakland was have a bunch of white ppl move to Oakland with money and displace blacks and put in well off white yuppies in the neighborhood, so he closed down black hiphop clubs cause Jerry Brown the mayor, thought that would make white folks uncomfortable. You have some black businessness but not like it was back in the day.(most blacks moved to Atlanta or other places out of the bay area) If you go back to Oakland, Ca you will see it changed all downtown. Also since Ronald Reagan Was prejudice against LGBT of color ppl, seems like blacks and LGBT of color started getting their power in 90s especially after rap artist were coming on the scene in America, Ronald Reagan somehow didnt do illegal alien enforcement in the work places like has been going on for generations and I guess let them in cause they sure were not here in our country in droves like they have been coming over here in the last 14 years, and he let these non native European spandiard conquestos illegal aliens who took over Aztec and Myans land over into our country. It was like they are pretty unprogressive and sexist and homophob especially the males, just how Ronald Reagan likes it, stuck in the 1950s. He let them go on our welfare that our Americans paid our tax dollars into and they came to Oakland took over and overpopulated there and Richmond also. Especially Richmond.

So I miss how it was in Oakland and Richmond, back before that happened. There was way more LGBT of color. They closed Cables down, one and only black LGBT club were they played the good underground hiphop and regular hiphop. The UPTOWN in Oakland which was were you played last time for your act, and its now more European based white folks and spandiards. They also have a little more foriegners like Africans and Middle Eastern also. But I like the original American ppl who were here and everyone spoke English you didnt even think twice about getting a job or going anywhere. Now the spandiards took that overs since all they ask you is if you speak that European Spandiard language now. That is what I am talkn bout. I guess Im suppose to have to be oppressed even further from these Europeans and try to learn their European spandiard language and kiss their ass and make them comfortable in our country and take our jobs and homes and neigbhorhoods over since we are just LGBT of color born and raised in this country and have NO rights. Oh ya miracle the hate bill was passed, how long did that take to pass for us real Americans born and raised in this country, ten years.

uhm wow. I'm sorry I've been busy and haven't been able to visit the big toe these past weeks. I"m not sure how to address you level of anger. But I do wonder how you have transformed all of this energy into something productive? I"m assuming you have anyway? If not sister, I have to recommend that you stay mindful of your physical health. If anger doesn't find an outlet then it will turn inwards and can become cancerous, if not to you, then your immediate community.

Though I understand where your essentially coming from I somewhat worry a bit about how your dealing with it.

I think about the Promised Land a lot. The Promised Land to me looks like what Jesus, Gandhi, Martin Luther King, and others have been telling humanity about for thousands of years. A world free of ignorance and violence, where all are valued and where love is the root of every action. A world built on responsibility and respect where women and children are not undervalued and not afraid to walk down the street. Where everyone can live their life as they see fit. Where everyone has an excellent education and where the contents and workings of people’s minds and hearts are not dictated to them by the state but people are able to create their own religion, their own economies, their own social systems. Where the Earth and environment are not harmed because of the greed of certain people. A world of equality and connectedness, free of exploitation, hate, and fear. A world based on wisdom and feminine values. Where everyone lives a life that is intellectually, physically, and spiritually nourishing. A world where the highest potential of the human mind and heart can be actualized.

On a Star Ship somewhere in the Delta Quadrant!

I'm a recent Trekkie convert marveling at the possibility that different species (let alone races/creeds/nationality) could exist in relative harmony in confined quarters for extended periods of time. Granted, most of the species encountered by the Federation were humanoid and the probability that other humanoid species exist in this little corner of the galaxy.

While it would be ideal to have human beings live in harmony with one another and with the World we have been charged stewards of, I'd love to see floating bubbles that live in liquid methane gently wafting in the breeze down my street and interact with other sentient beings who can exist as pure energy converting matter to anti-matter...

But for now I'm stuck on this rock (albeit a beautiful one).

It looks like self love is showing on everyone's face....it doesn't look new but rather aged. Which to me means that a revolution had been won!. The faces I speak of is " burnt of skin"....(loved how Gil Noble of Like it Is says it) any how....in this land I can walk down the street holding my womens hand , kiss her at a restaurant and pick up our kids without any nasty looks, feelings of hate and the need to run for cover....in the "hood".

That would mean love has swept through.

My Utopia would consist of a place where money for the arts is a given in every school just as it is for sports, ESPECIALLY in the football-controlled area of the world where I reside. Sports is very important, it's just not the only forum for talent. Music appreciation of all genres would be a requirement. And thinking before speaking would be mandatory. Treating your neighbor as you would like to be treated would be the rule and not the exception. Money for schools would be inexhaustible rather than having a government that would rather fund a prison. Seeing two women hold hands or two men show affection in public would be as common place as a man and woman who do so. Families of all types would be accepted as...a different type of family, nothing more, nothing less. No one would ever be hungry in a country where 43.000 TONS of food is thrown away each day. Weapons of destruction, mass or minor would be an urban legend, never a reality. Child and spousal abuse and neglect would be unheard of. Mistakes would not become habits. There would be no "crabs in a barrel" mentality when it comes to my fellow sisters. I would never have writer's block.

martin luther king spoke up a beloved community, yes. but i think the mcdonaldlized commidification of dr. king has made him seem like a passionate passive man who was color blind.

why is it when people say that they want rights for their specific community - whether it be lgbt, african-america, or under the umbrella of poc - it is often deemed exclusionary? much of who dr. king was has been supressed by many historians, and through the media. king was a revolutionary & he was getting to be even more of one which is why he was killed.
